Obligatory notation of 1000th post

I began this blog several years ago.  It has undergone shifts of interest, focal points, and prolific surges. The notion that it would get to 1,000 posts is sort of weird.  A number of the posts are now out of date.  Sometimes I change my mind when I rethink things.  There are not a lot of links and I do not re-post things here as a matter of policy so it is pretty much just me and what I am interested in putting out here.
