The streak came to an end

I first ran the Seattle Marathon as a full in 1998.

Every Sunday after Thanksgiving for 18 years I completed the full.  That meant I handled Thanksgiving and the days after in a very particular way for many years.

This year it became clear that I could not do the race in a healthy way and finally gave in to the streak ending.

So, this morning, I can easily get out of bed and move around, instead of probably taking the day off from work.

Today begins the training for next year.   The possibility of a make up race in June is real.  I still want to get to 26 full marathons and complete a Marathon Maniacs qualification.

But, just as The Undertaker saw The Streak end at 21, so ended mine at 18.

Dear Formerly New Sonics Ownership Group (#9)

Dear Formerly New Sonics Ownership Group (#9)

I haven't written in a while Clay.  It felt like bad timing and taste to comment when the other major half of the ownership group passed.  It felt like it was too soon when your team landed in the finals a few years ago.  It was shocking when KD signed an extension at one point.  It was kind of piling on when your team had an epic collapse this year. But, KD leaving is what I always predicted would happen.

He is still in the prime years of an NBA career and that will not be in OKC.

In the NBA, teams recover eventually, but it takes a long time. It will be a dark decade there before another free agent of any class looks at OKC and thinks anything other than KD left because that team is not set up for a run at a title.

So, Clay. This is what I long have expected would happen if and when KD really hit the open market.  He would leave.

OKC fans don't deserve this.  They are not at fault.  If anything, it appears that they have done nothing but embrace the team.  KD had a near decade in OKC and is choosing a different path.  He is also doing it the right way, from all indications.  Leaving a franchise is something that it is totally okay for a player to do when they sit and mull over multiple offers. OKC fans will likely never view this rationally that way, but it really is the case.

Seattle will now be as likely to win a title as OKC, and we still don't have a team after a decade. Let the hopeless decade begin in OKC.

Soundcloud page up and running

Soundcloud page is up and running.

I have taken the audio from Clever Girl (Roadrunner) and the Driving in the Rain film I made and started the page.

The plan is now to record audio of a good deal of my published, and even a little of my non-published or blog, writing.

The other side

Finding October
Official Selection Seattle International Film Festival 2016

We had our two screening at SIFF.  At both, there was a good turnout of film fans that just wanted to see the film and were not otherwise connected to us.

Also, we were brought up after the screenings to q&a with a moderator and the audience.

I work with actors at cons.  They have people coming up to them all the time.  They take questions on stage.  They pose for pics on the red carpet in front of banners. On a smaller scale than dealing with a franchise of fans i have now experienced the other side of that. The experience will definitely affect how I work those situations in the future. Amazing to experience this.

One does what is necessary

One does what is necessary.

Broken glasses.

OLD frames that could not be saved.

3D movie glasses with the lenses popped out.

Some black clay type stuff (actually Crayola).

And, now I see in 3D until the new ones come in later in the week.

Of course, I will have to put 3D glasses over these to see the Civil War screening tonight, but so be it.

The Words Official Selection & SIFF

The words "Official Selection" and "Seattle International Film Festival" were not things I really ever planned to be able to put on my resume.  But, I will take it.

Screenings are May 30 at 6PM at Shoreline CC and June 2 at 830PM at Uptown.

It is weird how life plays out

(Iron Maiden at the Tacoma Dome 4-11-16)

I have noted before in a Duran Duran piece how weird it is that Jason and I became friends later in life as opposed to while in school.

Yet, here it is all these years later and we have attended Iron Maiden together, to go along with the Duran Duran show in 05.  We have now attended these years later, not back in the day in high school.

Life is weird.

Life is good.

Educating one barista at a time

Espresso Con Panna
Upside Down

Starbucks floats the whip cream on top and it looks pretty.  Others do the same.

But, I now ask for it "upside down" because it actually drinks better that way.

And, one barista at a time I will get this changed to being normal.
