In 1916 my Great Grandfather was travelling by wagon and horse from Wisconsin to Montana and ran over this east of Miles City.
It is a Mauser 1871/84, apparently manufactured in 1877.

There has to be a story and yet we already have one. Seriously, my great grandfather ran over it with a wagon moving the family 100 years ago.
How did it end up in the dirt with a round still in the chamber?
